A distinct presence in the townscape – with respect for the night

browse projects

As the political and administrative centre, the town hall holds a prominent place within the municipality of Schaan. As part of the development of a wider lighting masterplan, the façade lighting and the lighting of the forecourt were carefully upgraded. The aim was to create a night-time appearance that reflects the building’s civic importance and strengthens its presence within the public realm.

The lighting concept uses carefully positioned and precisely calibrated accents. Characteristic elements of the façade are highlighted, making the architectural composition more legible and giving the building greater depth after dark. The redesigned forecourt lighting improves orientation and creates a calm, coherent transition between the town hall and the surrounding public space.

All interventions follow the principles of sustainable exterior lighting. Precise light distribution and the restriction of illumination to relevant surfaces reduce unnecessary light emissions and respect dark-sky requirements. The result is a restrained yet distinctive night-time identity that gives the town hall an appropriate presence without overlighting its surroundings.
